Cloth, a women's designer shop at 138 Fort Greene Place whose reviewers keep mentioning its custom shirts, is 4.9 on Google from 2,301 reviews, read 20 September 2026. Second is Urban Modesty, 7712 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge, where 230 of its 1,940 reviews mention hijabs.
So walk downtown, then take the train. The one area we would skip for clothes is Midtown: eight of its 11 shops sell jewelry or watches, and six close all weekend.

SoHo has the most shops, 27 of them

For vintage, start at Thirteen Crosby, 4A Prince Street: 4.9 on Google from 374 reviews, and 14 of them mention the photo booth. Blue in Green at 8 Greene Street is the denim stop, open until 8 pm six days a week. Boots come up in 23 reviews of Standard & Strange, 238 Mulberry Street.

The Lower East Side is for vintage and new designers
Thirteen shops, five of them on Orchard Street. Rogue, 154 Allen Street, is the most reviewed shop in Manhattan on our list: 4.9 from 1,394 reviews, 33 of them about Y2K clothes.
Café Forgot, 29 Ludlow Street, stocks new designers, and 14 reviews say so. At The Cast, 72 Orchard Street, the leather jackets get 13 mentions. Benthos, on the third floor of 35 East Broadway, opens Wednesday to Sunday only.
The East Village still sells punk
NYC Tourism's guide, read the same day, calls the East Village the birthplace of American punk rock. Forty reviews of Trash and Vaudeville, 96 East 7th Street, mention punk clothing, and it stays open until 8:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
